Ask Paula · True North Travel
Turn “we could spend winter there” into a practical plan.
You may have a destination in mind, a shortlist that keeps growing, or a very sensible question about how the whole trip comes together. Paula can help you work through the travel-planning details.

Meet Paula
Paula is a travel advisor with True North Travel and a co-founder of Canadian Snowmads. Her background in nursing and medical education brings a practical perspective to the questions that arise when people spend more time away from home.
Her role here is to help you explore travel arrangements and ask useful questions before booking. Individual medical, insurance, immigration or other regulated advice should come from the professional responsible for it.
Build a workable itinerary
Look at the full journey: departure airport, connections, transfers, dates and the practical demands of getting there and home.
Explore travel options
Discuss destinations, available packages or accommodation arrangements, and whether the options Paula can help arrange fit the winter you want.
Spot the questions worth asking
Consider the details that become more important on a longer stay—location, mobility, luggage, flexibility and the services you need nearby.
Make your first message useful
You don’t need a finished itinerary. A few details will help Paula understand what you’re hoping to do:
- Where you’re departing from, and whether another airport is realistic.
- Your preferred dates, length of stay and how flexible you can be.
- Who is travelling, including whether you’re planning a solo trip.
- The destinations you’re considering—or the weather and lifestyle you want.
- An approximate total budget, including flights and accommodation.
- Your main priorities: walking, beach access, a kitchen, social opportunities, transport, or anything else that would make or break the stay.
Mention any accessibility or practical requirements you want the planning to account for. Please keep medical records, passport details, payment information and other sensitive documents out of an initial message.
A few useful things to know
Do I need to know exactly where I want to go?
No. A shortlist—or a clear idea of your priorities—is a useful starting point. SnowMatcher and the destination rankings can help you get there.
Can Paula help with every rental or destination?
Available services depend on the trip, suppliers and arrangements involved. Ask what she can assist with before assuming a particular private rental or itinerary can be booked through her.
Are there fees or booking conditions?
Ask Paula to confirm any applicable service fees, deposits, cancellation conditions and supplier terms before work or bookings that carry a charge.
Does contacting Paula commit me to a booking?
An initial enquiry starts a conversation. A commitment depends on the services, agreements and booking terms you subsequently accept.
Can I ask a general Snowmad question?
Yes. Explain the question and whether you’re looking for booking help or general direction. Firsthand community experience can also be valuable when you’re comparing everyday life in different places.
Prefer to do some exploring first?
That’s perfectly reasonable. Start with a few destinations, read the compromises behind their scores and use the planning guide to test the idea against real dates and costs.
